OVERVIEW AND SUGGESTIONS

 

1.1 Purpose of the practicum

The exercise's goal is:

Gain experience instructing in the classroom.

Develop your soft skills, such as problem solving and public speaking.

fostering stronger educational ties between the two nations

 

1.2 Procedures of practicum

The useful methods are as follows:

Register for the course via the department of study programs.

Prior to the program commencing, receive some training (pre-departure training).

Seeing a lesson at a cooperative school

Learn about the Philippine educational system

Learn about and acquire knowledge about school culture.

Improve your classroom instruction, particularly at the high school and elementary school levels.

1.4 The Challenges of practicum

My inexperience in creating lesson plans and instructional materials, as well as my lack of confidence while speaking with others Thank goodness, I was able to have experience teaching at elementary and junior high schools throughout my time there.

1.5          Overall impression

Joining this program was one of the best choices I  ever made, especially because I was chosen in the beautiful country and beautiful town of Gabaldon. I was  nervous about teaching and that was it. On the other hand, I felt relieved that I was able to go to the same location as the SEA teachers from the Philippines who were my friends. I thought a month here would be stressful but it wasn't and I wanted to extend my stay  a little longer if possible. I am so grateful to have been accepted by the NEUST Gabaldon family from start to finish. Through this program, I learned how the education system in the Philippines is very different from  Indonesia. In addition, I also learned about the similarities and differences in Philippine school culture with schools in Indonesia. On this occasion, I can also apply my teaching skills in practice, especially teaching elementary school students. The experiences I gain in school will later become preparation and reflection for me to become a better teacher in the future. In addition to the school observation program and demonstration teaching, we also have many cultural, nature and culinary experience activities.by Gabaldon. From visits to major local offices, the Immigration Department, the Higher Education Commission, to local tourist attractions where Gabaldon residents often enjoy their free time. The cultural insight and exposure that we got during this activity is what I enjoyed the most while participating in this activity.I realized how wonderful it was to see another country's culture introduced to us. Some of the cultural similarities that I found also made me feel happy because I felt how close the Filipino and Indonesian cultures are. Apart from that, each country has its own uniqueness, making it even more colorful. Apart from that, we were also given time on weekends to get closer to our host family, friends and especially the Sir Jaypee Family through holiday activities to natural tourist attractions. One place that surprised me was the Dupinga River because the place was very busy with visitors and also had very fresh water. Through this activity, I got to know warm and great people. I got a new family that I will remember forever--the NEUST family, the Jaypee family who always support me in any activity. me and my friend who participated in this activity with me. Not only as a forum for becoming teachers in Southeast Asia in the future, this activity also builds strong relationships between fellow Southeast Asian countries.

1.6          Suggestions for future improvement

Since all the SEA Master programs provided by NEUST are excellent and run smoothly, In general, I believe it is better for participants to have free time on holidays when there are no activities to complete. Nevertheless, NEUST welcomed us, the participants, in a way that will last long after the event.
